Entering a Season of Discernment
Since our dear Patty Mouer retired from St. Luke’s, we as a parish have sort of been lying fallow, taking time for the gears to shift so that we have clear heads to find and welcome whom God has for us as the next Rector of St. Luke’s. As the Interim Rector, I have enjoyed getting to know all these special folks that make the parish what it is.
We are changing gears now and shifting into the discernment process. We have a great group of people leading the charge on this. It is an exciting time as we carry on the ministry here as usual but also look forward to calling a person here to walk with us as we seek to follow Jesus together. From now on in worship, and in our private prayers, we will be offering the following prayer of discernment. We would be delighted for any of you who are friends of St. Luke’s to join us in this prayer and the anticipation of whom God is going to send our way! “Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen” (The Book of Common Prayer, 1979, p. 818)
