“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

—Ephesians 2:10

Ministries

  • Altar Guild

The St. Luke’s Altar Guild is a devoted ministry that cares for the beauty and reverence of our worship space. Members prepare the altar and sanctuary for services, maintain the church interior, and ensure that every detail supports meaningful worship. Working quietly behind the scenes, the Altar Guild helps create a sacred and welcoming environment for all. We warmly welcome new members who feel called to serve in this hands-on and faithful ministry.

  • Children's Ministry

St. Luke’s Children’s Ministry is rooted in the vision that every child who comes through our doors feels welcomed, loved, and known—and learns that God welcomes, loves, and knows them too. What began as a prayerful hope has grown into a joyful ministry now serving several children each Sunday.

With a new playground coming in early 2026, we look forward to creating even more space for faith, play, and community, and we invite parishioners to join us in supporting this growing ministry.

  • Fellowship

Celebrations at St. Luke’s are always festive and well-attended, thanks to a dedicated group of Fellowship team members who work hard at making each event special. Our devoted congregation sees St. Luke’s as “home” and doesn’t want to miss being with its church family for feast days and gatherings. Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, and St. Luke’s Day are celebrations with potluck meals and outdoor games. Other fellowship events include celebrations of baptisms, and the welcoming of our Bishop every other year. All are welcome to join us for coffee hour every Sunday after the 10:30 service.

  • Grounds

Bounded by Chunns Cove Road and Ross Creek, the grounds of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church are sacred, welcoming, and multi-purpose. Our historic graveyard and Garden of the Resurrection offer peaceful places of remembrance, while the stone prayer labyrinth provides space for reflection and renewal.

Through partnerships with local environmental groups, we have restored and protected the creekside habitat and are certified by the North Carolina Wildlife Federation’s FAITH program. Native gardens, bird boxes, a rain garden, and bioswale support wildlife and care for creation. Our new playground project reflects our commitment to welcoming children and families. Lovingly tended by parishioners and community volunteers, our campus is a beautiful place to gather and experience God’s presence.

  • Outreach

In 2025, St. Luke’s Church is prioritizing outreach that strengthens and serves our community in meaningful, hands-on ways. We are committed to supporting the Veteran Restoration Quarter, ABCCM, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Food Connection, Community Action, Mercy Chefs, and Chunns Cove Assisted Care Living Center. Our Scholarship Program and Disaster Assistance Program remain critical components of our outreach, ensuring we respond with compassion, practical help, and hope where it’s needed most.

  • Pastoral Care

The mission of the Pastoral Care Committee is to reach out to parishioners who are homebound or isolated due to health concerns. We strive to keep them connected to the life of St. Luke’s and to remind them how valued and loved they are. A meaningful part of this ministry includes sending cards and notes of encouragement to homebound members and those facing health challenges, offering connection, prayer, and care from their church family.
